OCTOBER 14, 2024 Psalm 65:10 You water its ridges abundantly, You settle its furrows; You make it soft with showers, You bless its growth. In this verse, David continues to recount the blessing of the water cycle — how God causes the rain to water the ground in order that life might be sustained. He […]
OCTOBER 13, 2024 Psalm 65:9 You visit the earth and water it, You greatly enrich it. The river of God is full of water; You provide their grain, for so You have prepared it. Water is critical; without it, life would be impossible. This is a fact established in the very beginning for we see that water […]
OCTOBER 12, 2024 Psalm 65:8 They also who dwell in the farthest parts are afraid of Your signs; You make the outgoings of the morning and evening rejoice. All of us should be familiar with the idiomatic expression that encourages us to “Stop and smell the roses.” In other words, slow down and take the time […]
OCTOBER 10, 2024 Psalm 65:5-7 By awesome deeds in righteousness You will answer us, O God of our salvation; You who are the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of the far-off seas; who established the mountains by His strength, being clothed with power. You who still the noise of the seas, the noise of […]
OCTOBER 9, 2024 Psalm 65:4 Blessed is the man You choose, and cause to approach You, that he may dwell in Your courts. We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, of Your holy temple. Shortly before His crucifixion, Messiah said to His disciples, “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go […]
OCTOBER 8, 2024 Psalm 65:1 Praise is awaiting You, O God, in Zion; and to You the vow shall be performed. O You who hear prayer, to You all flesh will come. Have you ever been in a crowded room full of different voices speaking at the same time? If you’re like me, after a few […]
OCTOBER 7, 2024 Psalm 64:10 The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and trust in Him. And all the upright in heart shall glory. This psalm is devoted entirely to describing people who disdain the righteous and plot evil schemes to destroy them. Throughout the Bible, we see the repeated attempts of rebellious men to […]
OCTOBER 6, 2024 Psalm 63:11 The king shall rejoice in God; everyone who swears by Him shall glory. But the mouth of those who speak lies shall be stopped. There is a truth, validated time after time in Scripture, that should cause the righteous to hope and the wicked to consider their ways. Though God […]
OCTOBER 5 2024 Psalm 63:6-7 When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches. Because You have been my help, therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice. There is a rule at our house: when bedtime is approaching, conversations about topics that tend to be negative or have the […]
OCTOBER 4, 2024 Psalm 63:2 I have looked for You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory. We’ve all heard the old saying — “Absence makes the heart grow fonder.” In my mind, this sentiment goes hand in glove with the idea that we don’t appreciate what we have until we don’t have […]
OCTOBER 1, 2024 Psalm 62:9-10 If men are weighed on the scales, they are altogether lighter than vapor. Do not trust in oppression, nor vainly hope in robbery. If riches increase, do not set your heart on them. Many years ago, a popular, secular song declared of humanity that, “all we are is dust in the wind.” The analogy would mean that […]
SEPTEMBER 29, 2024 Psalm 62:3-4 How long will you attack a man? You shall be slain, all of you, like a leaning wall and a tottering fence. They only consult to cast him down from his high position; they delight in lies; they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Throughout the Scripture and, history for that […]
