As those following our ministry are aware, the VOE ministry does not send out letters requesting financial support throughout the year. However, each year during the seasons of God I extend an invitation for friends and partners to send in a special Thanksgiving offering to express appreciation for the work of the ministry, how it has blessed you, and to help us continue reaching the world!
Some of our greatest spiritual breakthroughs, both personally and in our ministry, have occurred during this season, especially during the 10 days between Trumpets and Atonement.
If you have been inspired, blessed, or helped through any aspect of our ministry, I invite you to participate in this fall – “Seasons of God thanksgiving offering.” Whatever you are impressed to plant into this ministry will be greatly appreciated. We have big plans to win souls and help many people in the future. Just as Paul, it is not that we desire a gift, but that fruit will abound to your account (Phil 4:17). I look forward to hearing from you soon, and as my Jewish friends always say at this season, “May your name be inscribed in the book of life.” Pam and I pray for a better year for you than in the recent past. May the rest of your life be the best of your life.
May God’s Favor be upon You!

The 40 Days of Teshuvah: A Season of Returning to God
The 40 Days of Teshuvah, a sacred time in the Jewish calendar, invite us to draw closer to God with open hearts. Beginning on Elul 1 (August 24, 2025, at sunset) and ending on Yom Kippur (nightfall on October 2, 2025), this season is a beautiful opportunity to return to our Creator and rediscover our truest selves. The Hebrew word Teshuvah (תשובה), meaning “return,” carries deep reverence, reflecting not just repentance but a heartfelt journey back to God’s love and purpose for us. With respect for the beauty of the Hebrew language, we see Teshuvah as a divine call to come home.
A Time Rooted in Scripture
This 40-day period echoes Moses’ time on Mount Sinai, where he sought God’s mercy for the Israelites after the Golden Calf (Exodus 34:28). It’s a season God has set apart for reflection, forgiveness, and renewal, aligning with His Appointed Times—the Fall Feasts of Trumpets, Atonement, and Tabernacles. For those who follow Christ, these feasts point to His return, God’s judgment, and the hope of His eternal kingdom (Revelation 20:4).
A Journey of the Heart
Known as the “Days of Favor,” these 40 days are a time when God is especially near, ready to hear our prayers. The shofar’s call (except on Shabbat) stirs our souls, urging us to reflect and realign with God’s will. Many recite Psalm 27 daily, trusting in His protection and grace. Special prayers, called Selichot, are offered—Sephardic Jews begin on Elul 1, while Ashkenazi Jews start just before Rosh Hashanah (September 22, 2025).
The Ten Days of Awe, from Rosh Hashanah (beginning at sunset on September 22, 2025) to Yom Kippur (ending at nightfall on October 2, 2025), are the heart of this season. This is a time to seek forgiveness, mend relationships, and prepare for the year ahead. Tradition holds that our lives—health, provision, and relationships—are written on Rosh Hashanah and sealed on Yom Kippur, making this a moment of profound spiritual focus.
Steps to Return
The wise teacher Maimonides shared four simple steps to guide us in Teshuvah:
- Acknowledge where we’ve gone wrong.
- Feel true sorrow for our mistakes.
- Confess our sins to God.
- Commit to walking in His ways.
But Teshuvah isn’t just between us and God. It’s also about healing relationships. We’re called to seek forgiveness from those we’ve hurt, as Yom Kippur atones for sins against God, not against others. This act of humility reflects the love of Christ, who reconciled us to God and one another.
A Season of Hope
For Jewish and Messianic believers alike, Teshuvah is a time of gratitude, letting go of bitterness, and embracing God’s purpose for our lives. It’s a reminder that no matter how far we’ve wandered, God, our compassionate Father, longs to welcome us home. As we approach Rosh Hashanah and the new year, Teshuvah offers hope—a chance to start anew, rooted in God’s grace and guided by His Spirit.
Let this season be a time to return to God’s heart, trusting in His mercy and the promise of His kingdom. May we walk humbly, love deeply, and honor the sacred call of Teshuvah.
